Jack, 2020.

Jack Thompson, one of Australia's most respected actors, appearing in acclaimed film and television roles since the 1960s. He was in Adelaide for the gala launch of High Ground at the Adelaide Film Festival.

The portrait was taken in a back lane in Adelaide, under the shade of a pepper tree, a black cloth draped over a fence, using only natural light and a large format film camera from 1950s.

The portrait was a finalist in the National Portrait Gallery London's $27,000 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize (2021), which hung in their Kensington Gallery, London.
alongside the portrait of Jacob Junior Nayyingul. From the 5400 entries from around the world, 25 artists were selected as finalists, two of Tony’s portraits were selected as finalists .

"The Taylor Wessing contest is considered one of the most prestigious photography awards in the world, where the very best contemporary portrait photography is celebrated" The Guardian UK
